We are a group of car enthusiasts that love all that is Porsche. For the past 45 years the members of the Yosemite Region have pursued their passion for Porsches, and we invite you to join us in the continued celebration of the marque’.
Our goal is to provide our members with a variety of opportunities to enjoy their cars. We sponsor a Concour d’Elegance in May. Porsche owners from all over Northern California bring their cars to The Concour at the Park, held in Davis Park in Modesto. Proud owners compete with each other to see who has the best-prepared vehicle in their class. The competition is serious and spirited but good-natured. We all know that the next Concour in the series bring a different set of judges and another chance for us to come out on top.
In June, we sponsor the Summer Solstice Rally. This is a time/speed/distance rally in which contestants vie to complete the rally with the fewest number of penalty points. If you are not familiar with rallying, it is basically this: you are given a set of instruction that tells you where to go and how fast to drive. But with rallying, the challenge is in the details, and how these instructions are phrased and how you interpret them is very important. You are following a written map. The contestants who run the course and come closest to the time, that the rally master has determined for the course, are the winners.
Zone 7 also sponsors autocrosses that the Region members may compete in. Autocrosses are run on courses defined by orange pylons (cones). They are run on large paved areas that have lots of room for error so that no one can damage their vehicle. The contestant drives through the course as quickly as possible without knocking over any cones. You compete against other drivers in similar cars, but mainly you are competing against the clock and trying to improve your own performance.
There are also high-speed track events called Drivers Education events. These are sponsored by several groups and offer our members a chance to improve their high speed driving skills. These events are held on racetracks such as Laguna Seca or Thunder Hill Race track and qualified instructors ride with car owners and give them one-on-one instruction.
We also sponsor tours and social events through out the year so that our members have a chance to get together, drive their cars, meet new friends and renew old friendships.
We invite all Porsche owners to join the Porsche Club of America and help us in the celebration of the Porsche experience.
