Charitable Activities

As the PCA motto says: "It is not the cars, it's the people!"

Charity Laps

During every track event at Gateway International, the St. Louis Region of the PCA holds charity "parade" laps during the lunch break.  These are paced laps around the road course that anyone with a street-worthy four-wheeled vehicle can participate in.  The proceeds are donated to a local group in need of donations.

In memory of Mrs. Allen, we donated the funds collected from the 2001 Carrera Classic charity laps to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) every year. For 2002, we honored Chris Flier's memory via donations to the Humane Society of St. Louis.

Food Drive

For 2003, we have initiated the non-perishable food product drive.  Participants of local events are encouraged to bring can of food or non-perishable food product to each club event.  The food would be donated to a local food pantry in the name of the St. Louis Region of PCA.  In the specific case of the April 2003 Carrera Classic,  the food collected will be donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Pius V Church, an inner city organization serving a culturally diverse neighborhood centered at Grand and Utah.

Gateway To a Cure

In 1996, St. Louis based Gateway to a Cure was founded by Lou Sengheiser, as a registered 501(c)3 non-profit group, dedicated to raising public awareness and financial support for spinal cord injury research. Gateway to a Cure advocates accessibility and opportunity for people with spinal cord injury, and provides support and education for their families.  Lou Sengheiser is a member of the St. Louis region PCA and also the president of Gateway to a Cure.

Currently, the Gateway to a Cure is selling raffles for a Porsche, a Corvette and other vehicles and also homes and scholarships.  The triple Porsche giveway with the grand prize winner taking home a Porsche 911 and a Boxster S and the second prize being a Boxster S is especially appealing.   Tickets are $100 each, and a minimum of 2,000 tickets will be sold before the drawing is set.

Contact Gateway to a Cure at 152 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125 or check out www.gatewaytoacure.org for more details!

Toys for Tots

Of course, not to be forgotten are the donations to the Salvation Army and the Toys for Tots program.  Our appreciation goes out to everyone who has ever contributed to the support of the community!
