The car shown above is type 695, also
known as the T7 prototype. The last 356s were known as T6, so the T7 project
was begun in order to change direction from the aging 356. This 695 prototype
had a wheelbase 100mm longer than the 356, but the rear of the car turned
out very awkward. By looking at the 695, you notice the front half is identical
to the production 911. Butzi Porsche redid the rear half of the 695 prototype
to look like what would become the 911.
