Registration is open for all
2016 Potomac Region DEs and all 2016 FSR HPDEs

Porsches in Shenandoah Valley The Shenandoah Region of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) is dedicated to enjoying Porsche cars in central Virginia. While Porsches are the common element, our members provide the club with variety and enthusiasm. We organize scenic driving tours, run six autocrosses each year, and take part in high-performance driver's education (DE) events at the Virginia International Raceway and other tracks. Our premier event is the Richmond Porsche Meet (RPM), a June weekend including a concours, lunch, driving tour, tech session, banquet, and an autocross at the Southside Speedway. We also hold a Christmas party and several other social meetings annually.

Nonmembers are welcome to participate in a social meeting, a driving tour, or an autocross. Learn more about the Shenandoah Region PCA and our upcoming events, the PCA Zone 2 comprising 10 nearby regions, the national PCA, and how to JOIN PCA.

Platz logo Porscheplatz at VIR's Michelin GT Challenge:

TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE for the Zone 2 hosted Porscheplatz at VIR's Michelin GT Challenge at VIR August 27 – 28, 2016.

Join the Porsche Club of America (PCA) and Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) as PCA Zone 2 hosts PCA members and Porsche owners at our Porscheplatz at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) during the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR August 27 – 28, 2016. The event is part of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship series. This year's IMSA WeatherTech Championship Series race will feature the GTLM and GTD classes. The event will also feature races from the Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge, Mazda Lites and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama.

Our Porscheplatz will feature a Porsche only dedicated car corral and a hospitality tent where you can relax, watch the races on cable TV and hear presentations by Porsche Motorsports North America, team drivers and sponsors and enjoy Porsche-only Parade Laps. Your ticket gives you access to the paddock where you can see the cars and drivers up close and personal. Follow us on the PCA and Zone 2 social media to keep abreast of the VIR Porscheplatz and for some new and innovative activities that might be a part of our event. Plan on joining us for the PCA Café on Sunday morning when the hospitality tent opens. This is a great opportunity to enjoy some coffee and donuts and meet your fellow PCA Members and Porsche owners.

This will be a great opportunity to see the Porsche factory teams driving the 911 and 912 cars in the GTLM class and other PMNA supported teams in the GTD class. Don't miss this chance to see some exciting racing on one of the premier road courses in the U.S. Tickets range from $45.00 to $180.00 depending on the package.

To purchase your tickets and car corral pass, click here.

We still need volunteers to help staff the car corral and tent for the two-day event. There are various shifts available both Saturday August 27 and Sunday August 28. While the race schedule is not confirmed, times are generally available from 7:30 AM – 6 PM (Sat) and 8 AM – 4:30 PM (Sun). However these times could shift somewhat. Should you wish to volunteer at the event, we have 10 tickets for access to the race each day. Volunteers will receive a ticket for the day they are working so when not volunteering they may enjoy the race activities. PLEASE CONTACT Claude Taylor at IF YOU WISH TO VOLUNTEER.

Please contact PCA Porscheplatz/Car Corral Coordinators Tuffy von Briesen and Lynn Friedman at if you have questions about the Porscheplatz.

Potomac Region's 2016 DEs and HPDCs:

The PCA Potomac Founders' Region opened all of its 2016 DE events for registration on January 31. To see the list of events and to register via, click here. Particularly popular is their Labor Day Weekend (September 2–4) DE at VIR.

This list also includes a High Performance Driving Clinic (HPDC) on September 10. HPDC can be the single best day you'll have in your car, with emphasis on awareness and car control in a safely controlled environment and with an instructor in the car. HPDCs are for students who have zero or little performance driving experience (DE, HPDC, PDX, autocross, competition drag racing, etc.). Because HPDC is one way to qualify to drive in Potomac DE events, those with ZERO performance driving experience will be given preference. Sign up early. Their HPDCs usually sell out more than a month in advance and have long wait lists.

First Settlers Region's 2016 HPDEs:

The First Settlers Region Spring 2016 HPDE on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 at the new Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, VA was CANCELED because the track wasn't ready on time.

The First Settlers Region Summer 2016 HPDE will be held on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10 at the new Dominion Raceway in Woodford, VA. To register for the Summer HPDE via, click here.

The First Settlers Region Fall 2016 HPDE will be held Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 18 at VIR (on the North Course on Friday, and on the South Course on Saturday and Sunday). To register for the Fall HPDE via, click here.

Are you new to DE and on the fence about whether Driver's Education is for you? Sign up for their Intro to HPDE available during all three HPDEs listed above. For a $50 fee, they will get you out on the track in your car with an instructor for a single session mid-day on Saturday. Standard DE safety requirements apply, so you will need as a minimum a Snell SA 2010 rated helmet. FSR has a few loaners available, so please email the registrar before you sign up if you'd like to borrow one. FSR welcomes the BMWCCA and other car clubs to their "Intro to HPDE" event. Register using the links above.
