Presidents Remarks...

Has anybody seen Winston?  Wow what a fast car!  He passed Maralee and I on the way to Madison County and we never saw him again!  We all need to do a better job of looking out for each other.

New members and old friends won't want to miss our Party on December 1st.  Mark it on your calendar now and be sure to send your reservations... see details below.  We want everyone to be there!

It's been a great year for our club and a new event calendar is being prepared for next year.  If you would like to suggest a special event or host one, let us know.  I'ts your club, so tell us what activities you would like to add... wine tasting, dealer visits, tech sessions, driver training, race trips, dinner and a play... How about it?

The October event

We had a great day for the drive to Winterset.  Even though it threatened rain we found none.  It was a bit windy in Winterset but we still found it a interesting and fun time.  Some of us toured the John Wayne birthplace.  It was quite interesting with many photos and memorabilia from his days in the movie business.  Around the square there were many food and drink vendors as well as craft stands.  Of special interest was the home made Root Beer and the Kettle corn.  There was a very large collectable car show covering 5 or 6 blocks.

Thanks to many members of the Schonesland (Des Moines) club for joining us.

It was a fun event and I recommend the Covered Bridge Festival to anyone who wants to attend in the coming years.  PS.  We didn't drive over the covered bridge.  There is one that can be driven over but it is on a gravel road.

December 1, 2001: Our Holiday Awards Party & Shopping Opportunity in Amana

It's time to get together and have some fun! Don't forget to send in your reservations for the Holiday party.  We need them before November 23, 2001.  Please let us know ASAP.

The Central Iowa Region Holiday Party will be a wonderful event at the Amana Holiday Inn.  We will have a fine German "Amana-style" feast, Porsche fellowship, lots of Porsche Door Prizes and Awards.  We will also have a gift exchange.  Bring a Porsche or car related gift, wrapped for exchanged.  It should be of a $10.00 value per gift per person.  We will have a presentation of the trophy for Enthusiast of the Yar Award, Driver of the Year Award, and Most Improved Driver and a few surprises.

Please join us for the Christmas party on Saturday, December 1, 2001. We will begin with cocktails in the lounge at 6:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, we will move into a private dining room for dinner, prizes, and lots of fun!

The Amana Holiday Inn is located at exit 225 off Interstate 80 in Amana. You may even want to consider making a weekend of it! This location at that time of year could make for a pleasurable weekend of Christmas shopping, dining, and Porsche driving in the Amana Colonies!

Those wishing to indulge in the party evening will need to register by check or cash ahead of time. We must confirm an accurate number for dinner. The meal cost is $19.00 per person. This includes a family style dinner with 3 meat choices, beverage, dessert, gratuity, and tax.

It is absolutely necessary to send check or cash to Tanya Meyer no later than November 23, 2001 to reserve dinner. Please send your check or cash, with the name(s) of those attending the party to Tanya at 2335 Mulberry St. #6, Coralville, IA 52241. If you have questions, please call Tanya at 319-338-8403.

It will be a wonderful time of year to enjoy the Amana Colonies and fellow Porsche enthusiasts! Hope to see you here!
