Jon and Judy’s Porsche Run to Parkfield,
“The Earthquake Capitol of the World”!
Saturday, February 1, 2003
Come join us for a fun run to the
little town of Parkfield, in Cholame Valley.
We will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Margie’s Diner, in San Luis Obispo; located
off of Highway 101 and Los Osos Valley Road, on Calle Joaquin.
Please be prepared for a full day
of exciting activities by having a full tank of gas, a full container of water,
and an empty bladder!
We will depart at 10:00 a.m. and
our route will take us through the back roads and hills of Santa Margarita,
Creston, and Shandon.
Since it will be the first day of
February, a month with a lot of holidays, we will give every car a quiz sheet
with lots of fun questions. Think: Valentine’s Day and love, President’s Day
and history, and earthquakes and geology!
A special prize will be rewarded to the car (driver and/or passenger)
who answers the most questions correctly!
We will stop for lunch at 12:00
p.m. in the quaint town of Parkfield at the Parkfield Cafe, where they are
“still waiting for the BIG ONE”!
Parkfield is located along the San Andreas Fault and they have endured a
major quake about every 22 years!
After lunch, we will depart at
2:00 p.m. and continue on through Vineyard Canyon to San Miguel. Watch out for darting squirrels, road
runners, and wild turkeys! Extra
points may be awarded!
We will stop for dessert at 3:00
p.m. at Kelly’s in Paso Robles; located at 1646 Spring Street, on the corner of
17th and Spring. Kelly’s, “Where every
dish is a work of art”! The winner of
the road quiz will be announced during dessert. The run will end at 4:00 p.m. when we depart from the restaurant
for our journey home.
Please call or e-mail to
RSVP. We need to let the Parkfield Cafe
know how many to expect.
